Legal Mechanisms of Domestic Violence and Their Implementation research

The research aims to examine the implementation mechanisms of the Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Prevention of Domestic Violence and the Protection of Persons Subjected to Domestic Violence, as well as to identify the obstacles that arise during the reporting of violence.

During the research, the following three methods were applied:
• document analysis
• face-to-face surveys with survivors
• in-depth interviews with sector representatives and experts

Analysis of the “Raising the Level of Awareness Among Forcibly Displaced Persons from Artsakh Living in Gyumri”

The survey titled “Raising the Level of Awareness Among Forcibly Displaced Persons from Artsakh Living in Gyumri” was conducted in 2023 among 43 individuals displaced from Artsakh and residing in the former hospital premises in Gyumri city.

The main objective of the program—raising the level of awareness—was implemented through the following steps:
• a needs assessment was conducted through a survey
• gaps in information were identified
• preferred ways of receiving information were determined
• informational leaflets containing relevant information were developed and distributed

Summary Sheet of Identified Issues by the Women’s Rights House Regarding the Needs of Forcibly Displaced Women from Artsakh

The forced displacement resulting from the conflict in Artsakh on September 19, 2023, has led to significant and multifaceted challenges for displaced individuals and families. These challenges span economic, social, educational, and healthcare sectors.

  1. The main sectoral issues identified are as follows:

    3. Non-targeted distribution of state-provided resources
    4. Social issues
    5.Educational issues
    6. Employment issues
    7. Healthcare-related issues
    8. Problems related to the Civil Status Acts Registration (CSAR) authorities
    9. Issues related to the appeal or annulment of court decisions

Summary of the Results of the Needs Assessment of Forcibly Displaced Persons from Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh)

The purpose of the assessment was to identify the primary needs of displaced persons living in the Shirak region and, based on these findings, to provide appropriate support, including informational, legal, and socio-psychological services, as well as referrals.

The urgent assessment of these needs was carried out by the Women’s Rights House NGO with the support of the Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation (GMF Transatlantic Trusts / Black Sea Trust), within the framework of the project “Targeted Prevention and Mitigation for Forcibly Displaced Women and Girls from Artsakh.”

Research on “Violations of women’s labor and other rights during COVID

Taking into account the labor rights violations during COVID-19, the situation of violations of women’s labor rights in Armenia, particularly in the Shirak region, the organization conducted a research to study in detail the cases of labor rights violations in the Shirak region, analyze and prepare a package of recommendations to solve problems with government agencies and employers.

Analysis of the project implemented by the Employment centers

Women’s Rights House, with the financial support of the European Union in Armenia and the People in Need Armenia organization, implemented the Increasing the protection of labor rights in Armenia project, within the framework of which a state employment survey was carried out by the 6 regional centers of the Ministry of Labor and social issue of the RA State employment agency in 2021: Analysis of the program 3) Providing support to the unemployed to gain professional work experience in the acquired profession.

The Women’s Rights House prepared the manual “Anatomy of gender, gender stereotypes, discrimination, and inequality” within the framework of the “Engaging Shirak’s youth to challenge gender roles and stereotypes” project.

The manual presents gender, gender equality and stereotypes, and other related topics, as well as the works of the 3 winners of the art competition.

The Women’s Rights House, as a member of the Monitoring group of Care Houses, shares with the urgent report, about visit Yerevan “Zatik” Children’s Support Center in 2023, March 29 .

The report presents possible physical and sexual violence against children, including children with disabilities, ill-treatment, discrimination, bad habits among children, self-harm, suicide attempts or insufficient response when knowing about that desire, and a variety of information violations of girls’ reproductive and other rights.
